Dexter's Laptop bag part 5 - help others find it.

Yes - that's me on the front coverI have a lot of traffic to this blog from Google searches on "Dexter's Bag", "Dexter's Laptop Bag", "Dexter +bag", "Dexter's book bag" and many more.
The reason is of course my 4 posts about my hunt for the bag I saw Dexter use, to carry his MacBook, to the office in Season 2 of the popular series "Dexter". The 4 posts can be found here:

Post 1 - Where the hunt begins.
Post 2 - How I got unxpected help
Post 3 - Review of my bag.
Post 4 - Update on where it might be found.

The bag, an Oakley S.I. Computer bag has the status of "discontinued" over at the Oakley site, but it seems to appear on eBay, and various webshops in the U.S. every now and then. Browse the comments from readers on the previous posts, or please post your Oakley S.I. Computer bag, or Dexter's Bag sightings as comments to this post, and find yours, or help others find theirs.

I'll also throw up a post in the forum.

At the time of writing this post, it is available here, on eBay, at a fair price. US readers may ba able to find tham available at Zappos, as described over at GearsandWidgets.com

I have not seen season three over here in Norway yet, is he still using the bag?

The perfect (Dexter) laptop bag, Part 4

A small update on the Dexter, or Oakley S.I Computer bag, I have been blogging about.
The Bag is still my favourite and there seems to be an interest for it still. I regularly get emails about it and the traffic from Google searches to this site indicates a continued interest in it.

Icen Berger made a recent comment to one of my posts and it seems like the bag is still available here at Zappos.com.
Other readers tells me the have been able to get it from ebay, where it appears every now and then.

I still love this bag and use it every day, and I keep getting comments about out in public. That's how cool it is!

Happy hunting for the ultimate Laptop bag.

The perfect (Dexter) laptop bag, Part 3

Since I get several emails each week from people asking me to help them get Dexter's Laptop Bag, for themselves, or has questions about the bag, it's time to write a follow up on my story of "the perfect laptop bag".
As some of my readers know I was searching for the perfect laptop bag for a while, and finally spotted the one I wanted on Dexter Season 2. An Oakley S.I. Computer Bag. But I was out of luck, and the model was discontinued, and I was quite disappointed. Not only was it the coolest laptop bag I had seen so far, it was also Dexter's Laptop bag. Being a huge fan of the show, I really wanted one, but I could not manage to get one online. So I gave up but wrote about it on my blog.

As it turned out, if you blog something, things might turn out for the best. I had seen the bag available on a few US based web shops, but none of them could ship to Europe. But as it turned out a friendly eBay user found the blog post and told me he could get it for me and ship it to Norway. Even though eBay hadn't provided me with any luck for the bag, this guy made an extra effort in order to help me. And in a couple of weeks I had the bag here in Norway. As I wrote about in part 2 this is a great story about how the internet is supposed to be. Finding each other and helping one another out.

So I have had the bag for a while now. I use it every day to work, and I bring my Asus Eee 1000H netbook, multiple headsets (including my Creative coise canceling ones), chargers, pens, notebooks, iPhone, documents and so on. I have taken out the included padded, inline extra bag, meant for 15-17" notebooks, and keep that at work with my work issue notebook and swap that with my private netbook when I head out for seminars and such. But I can also fit both in two separate compartments.

The bag is extremely solid. You immediately feel that this is high quality and the extremely rough carabin hooks, for the nicely padded shoulder strap, not only gives it a tough look, but also assures you this is built to last. It is a solid bag, not small and light, but it has room, withstands rain and a bit of tossing around. Can take a lot of weight, but most importantly it looks cool on you.

I get tons of comments on the bag from both men and women. Most men agree that this is really cool looking one. If you don't need the extra space you can remove the front pockets, taking a bit of that army look out of it (Dexter has those removed), but I keep them on and they are all filled with USB pen drives, ear plugs for iPhone other stuff.

Judging from the hits I get on this blog, and my old one where I first wrote about it, from Google on the search terms "Dexter's Laptop bag" or "Dexter's Bag", Oakley should not have discontinued this bag, as it seems to be quite the popular one.
But there is still some up for grabs at various web shops, so do your searches for "Oakley S.I. Computer Bag" and I hope you get hold of one for yourself.
Or you could also contact Oakley Customer Services and demand they start manufacturing the model again.

Good luck fellow laptop bag fanatics and Dexter fans!

The perfect laptop bag, Part 2

On February 14th I wrote about "The Perfect Laptop Bag - how hard can it be?" Where I wrote about my disappointment about finding the coolest laptop bag ever as seen carried by Dexter in Season two of the TV series, the Oakley S.I. Computer Bag, only to find out is out it was discontinued from the manufacturer.

But blogging has its benefits, at least when you have Google helping you out. Somebody found my  blog post by googling, and left me a comment on my blog post, informing me that he could get me these in black, linking to an eBay auction. By the time I saw the link the item was gone. But after a bit of emailing between me and ebay user blue.zapfel, I now have a bag on the way to Norway.

I think this is really cool. This is how the Internet should work. Making the world a smaller place, letting people find and help each other out. Here I was in Norway, really wanting to get this item, googling, searching eBay and so on, but without any luck. I found a couple of web shops that still had a few left, but they did not ship overseas, and most other places it was sold out. Then 3 months late this guy finds my blog and let's me know he can get me one if I am interested, I respond and one week later he tells me he has some available. Easy payment through PayPal and the shipment is one the way. Thank you very much "blue.zapfel" I really do appreciate it!

So soon I will post a picture of myself, a huge Dexter fan, with "Dexter's laptop bag" on my shoulder on my way to work!

By the way - I am not the only one who has been craving this bag. Just have a look at the Dexter Wiki, or google "Dexter's laptop bag" yourself.

The perfect laptop bag - how hard can it be?

I have searched for a new laptop bag for a while now. Almost 2 years of periodically searches without me doing any purchases. I can not seem to find a bag I actually want to buy. The selection in Norwegian webshops is tragic. It is Dicota bags all the way - and recent appearances of Golla bags is not an option, since being a metrosexual is soooo 2007. Crumpler is to much "Mac-guy" and not geeky enough for me.

I demand a lot of a bag. It has to not only fit a laptop, but cover all my gadget-carrying needs - and I do carry quite a lot of gadgets with me. It has to be masculine or geeky enough.

Then I recently saw some episodes of the TV series Dexter an immediately noticed his shoulder  bag. That is the one for me I thought.  A quick google search for "Dexter's bag" later - and I learned the it was an Oakley S.I. Computer Bag. I  googled that and got to Oakley's product site only to find out that the product is discontinued.

So I finally found a bag I thought was really cool (and you can remove the additional pockets in the front - Dexter did) - and the product is no longer available. Even ebay.com and ebay.co.uk could not help.  And all other google searches led me to "this product is out of stock".

So I am still looking. So if you know a cool looking, favorite shoulder/messenger/laptop-bag, please leave a link as comments to this post.
