Since I get several emails each week from people asking me to help them get Dexter's Laptop Bag, for themselves, or has questions about the bag, it's time to write a follow up on my story of "the perfect laptop bag".
As some of my readers know I was searching for the perfect laptop bag for a while, and finally spotted the one I wanted on Dexter Season 2. An Oakley S.I. Computer Bag. But I was out of luck, and the model was discontinued, and I was quite disappointed. Not only was it the coolest laptop bag I had seen so far, it was also Dexter's Laptop bag. Being a huge fan of the show, I really wanted one, but I could not manage to get one online. So I gave up but wrote about it on my blog.
As it turned out, if you blog something, things might turn out for the best. I had seen the bag available on a few US based web shops, but none of them could ship to Europe. But as it turned out a friendly eBay user found the blog post and told me he could get it for me and ship it to Norway. Even though eBay hadn't provided me with any luck for the bag, this guy made an extra effort in order to help me. And in a couple of weeks I had the bag here in Norway. As I wrote about in part 2 this is a great story about how the internet is supposed to be. Finding each other and helping one another out.
So I have had the bag for a while now. I use it every day to work, and I bring my Asus Eee 1000H netbook, multiple headsets (including my Creative coise canceling ones), chargers, pens, notebooks, iPhone, documents and so on. I have taken out the included padded, inline extra bag, meant for 15-17" notebooks, and keep that at work with my work issue notebook and swap that with my private netbook when I head out for seminars and such. But I can also fit both in two separate compartments.

The bag is extremely solid. You immediately feel that this is high quality and the extremely rough carabin hooks, for the nicely padded shoulder strap, not only gives it a tough look, but also assures you this is built to last. It is a solid bag, not small and light, but it has room, withstands rain and a bit of tossing around. Can take a lot of weight, but most importantly it looks cool on you.
I get tons of comments on the bag from both men and women. Most men agree that this is really cool looking one. If you don't need the extra space you can remove the front pockets, taking a bit of that army look out of it (Dexter has those removed), but I keep them on and they are all filled with USB pen drives, ear plugs for iPhone other stuff.
Judging from the hits I get on this blog, and my old one where I first wrote about it, from Google on the search terms "Dexter's Laptop bag" or "Dexter's Bag", Oakley should not have discontinued this bag, as it seems to be quite the popular one.
But there is still some up for grabs at various web shops, so do your searches for "Oakley S.I. Computer Bag" and I hope you get hold of one for yourself.
Or you could also contact Oakley Customer Services and demand they start manufacturing the model again.
Good luck fellow laptop bag fanatics and Dexter fans!
