It's official - I have been Applified

(photo: http://www.amitbhawani.com/)I admit it, no use hiding it anymore - I really love Apple products. Since I got my iPhone a while back I have come to love more and more of what Apple has made.

Being a hardcore PC/Windows user, I have been known talk less favorable of the Mac and the iPod,  and I was also a huge fan of Creative MP3 players. (I loved, and still love my Zen Vision: M, which I have received as a personal gift from Mr. Sim Wong Hoo, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Creative Technology Ltd.)

But then came the iPhone. I was trying for a long time to ignore the features of the iPhone, focus more on lack of 3G and MMS to all friends who had iPhones, but then I caved and got one myself. Since then I have really come to se what a great product it is. But not only that, it has, as many said it would, opened my eyes to the Mac world. Which lead to and Apple TV and a MacBook being the two top things on my must-have list.

I am also suddenly spending a lot of money on iTunes. I just went through my Visa card and I have bought more music the last few months then I have in years! And when I found out how easy it is to fill the iPhone with audio books, I suddenly bought way to many of the books I have kept on my whish list at Amazon.com for a while. So this latest of oh-so-many gadgets have had an impact on my spending way more than any other item I have purchased in a long time. I know fully and consciously that I am spending more money because of the gadget, but I think it is worth it because of the quality of service I get back.

But that is the brilliance of Apple. Steve Jobs and his crew have managed to create a series of products that works well, looks great, have a high fashion-must-have-factor to them, but most importantly - connects easily to great and easy to use services.

I do see the benefits of this now. For many years figuring stuff out with the PC was all the fun. Trial and error, re-installing and setting up was half the fun. But for a technology addict as myself, it is no so much that any more. There is now so much technology implemented in all parts of our daily life, that you now appreciate more technology that works smoothly, and focus more on the services available because of the gadgets and what you can do with them. At least I do. I get my technology cravings satisfied on another level, and I do not enjoy assembling my PC that much any more. Been there done that. Now that has become something that needs to be done every now and then, like cleaning the filters of the washing machine. It's a household thing.

So like I was told by friends, I now,  not only really love my iPhone like no other phone or portable music player I have ever owned, but I also desire a MacBook Pro, an Apple TV to get my rapidly increasing iTunes library available where my home theater is.

But now I am going to log in in at my  favorite web shop, Komplett.no, to buy and iPod Shuffle. I really need one while working in the garden this summer while I listening to my audio books and podcasts. And I wouldn't want to get my iPhone dirty. Would you?
